Baby Krabbelt mit Krabbelhose

When do babies start crawling – and why is it so important?

Crawling looks cute, but it's much more than just a stepping stone to walking. It trains muscles, balance, and even the brain.

The fact is: When crawling, babies move their arms and legs crosswise. This teaches both hemispheres of the brain how to work together – important for later reading, writing, and logical thinking. Therefore, crawling is a developmental step that babies shouldn't skip.

Why crawling is so important

• Strengthens muscles & joints
• Promotes coordination & balance
• Connects both hemispheres of the brain
• Basis for later learning

When do babies start crawling?

• First attempts from about 5 months
• Average: 8 months
• Some only at 11+ months
👉 Every child has their own pace – standing up or walking too early can put strain on the back and joints.

Tips for supporting

• Create a safe environment
Comfortable baby pants with plenty of freedom of movement
Anti-slip crawling pads for a secure grip
• Place your favorite toy out of reach
• Show it yourself – babies like to imitate
Extra help: On smooth floors, the RUBBY by sticklett anti-slip knee pads provide more grip, protect the knees and make learning to crawl more comfortable.

Relaxed crawling time

Imagine: Your baby is happily exploring the world on all fours – and you know they have a secure footing. That's exactly what makes crawling so important.
For you, this means less worry and more joy in small steps forward.
RUBBY by sticklett – the smart support for the crawling phase.
