Baby-Erstausstattung: Was braucht man wirklich?

Baby essentials: What do you really need?

When a baby is on the way, countless checklists arrive. But many of them go unused. Less is often more: With a few must-haves like bodysuits, rompers, sleeping bags, and a baby car seat, you'll be well prepared. Learn what's really important—and which extras you can easily do without in the beginning.

When a baby is on the way, countless checklists arrive: from online portals, magazines, or even relatives. But experience shows that many of them remain unused and end up in the closet.

Less is often more – this not only saves space and money, but also nerves.

Must-haves for the first few weeks

A few really important things are enough to get off to a good start:
Clothing: 4–5 bodysuits, 2–3 rompers, 1–2 hats
Sleeping: 1-2 pajamas or sleeping bags , cot with mattress and fitted sheet
Care: soft changing mat, diapers, wet wipes, diaper cream, muslin cloths, washcloths
On the go: baby seat for the car, stroller or sling
This will ensure your baby is well looked after in the first few weeks.

Nice-to-have, but not a must

Sterilizers, heat lamps, baby scales, and a host of toys – these sound practical, but are rarely used in most households. To start with, it's much more important to have the basics at hand, such as a breast pump or bottle warmer with baby bottles.

Tip for smart parents

Think about: What things really make my everyday life easier?
Some parents rely on small everyday helpers from the very beginning that provide security and calm – for example when it comes to sleep, taking temperature and health.

Practical gift sets

So that new parents don't have to think long, we have our baby sets:
2-piece sets: wrap bodysuit & pants with grow-along cuffs – soft, practical and ready to use.
Romper sets: perfect for the first few weeks, can be combined with a bodysuit and hat.
Newborn set: Ideal as a gift for a new baby – including a KUDDLY heat pad for little tummy ache moments.
These sets cover the most important basics – so mom doesn’t have to spend a long time wondering if something is missing.
